La chica que corrió

La chica que corrió is the fifth novel in the Louise Rick-series by Sara Blædel.

While interrogating the widow of a young man involved in gang activities, who was shot in his own home, detective Louise Rick receives a call from her foster son Jonas, asking her to come and quickly! A classparty has turned violent, as a group of young thugs have shown up to steal the booze and valuables from the house, and have beat one of the adults brutally.

Angry that the party is ruined, 12 year old Signe tries to run away, hoping to find help, but one of the thugs pursues her, and by the time Louise gets there, it has led to a tragic accident. Signe was struck by a car when she ran out into the street and dies from her injuries later in the night.

Signe’s mother is devastated upon losing her only child. But is she filled with revenge, as well as grief? A carefully planned instance of arson makes the case high priority at once. The clues lead in different directions, and it’s only after receiving an unexpected tip from her friend Camilla Lind, Louise realizes that not everyone has been telling the truth.
